Festival of the Arts - Day 2

A more manageable day today with 'only' 10 performances. Lots of dancing (Motion X Dance ensemble featured here), music and some powerful story telling around current issues.

My favorite performance by far was called 'Opera on Tap.' (see extra) That group features opera singers whose goal it is to make that genre more approachable to the general public. Their mission: find people that have never heard an opera or sat in a concert hall, and are intimidated by the mere mention of opera, and then sing for them and blow their minds. Their tactic: take opera to local bars, transpose them foreign words into skits about current issues, et voilà! This was a ton of fun (and the singers were great). The group has several chapters across the US, so look one up and try it: you'll have fun, I promise :)
