Lambley Viaduct
It's Wednesday, so the Haltwhistle Walkers were out in force. George led us on the enigmatically titled walk "One flew over the cuckoo's nest"! It was 9 miles - some of us thought longer - in the South Tyne valley.
It was very, very, very muddy and there were a lot of long ascents and descents in the mud and a lot of steps. Aggie objected but survived.
At one point on Kellah Killer Moor, both my feet were underwater in a cold bog and I had to be hauled out before my boots were sucked off.
Back at the Wallace Arms we had a well deserved drink and said how much we had all enjoyed the day!!
A hot bath was the only possibility after this and the washing machine is on.
The Lambley viaduct over the South Tyne river is a wonderful feat of engineering. Trails used to thunder across here.
