Christ The Redeemer

We sailed gently into port in Rio de Janeiro this morning at about 6:30.  The weather was very grey and misty, and I stood on our balcony searching for the famous statue of Christ that watches over the city, but the top of Corcovado mountain was shrouded in fog.  Then, miraculously, and only for a few minutes, the clouds parted, and there he was! 

We visited the statue today, as well as Sugar Loaf Mountain, and several other must-see sights in Rio, but of all the 165 photographs I took today, this is my favourite.
