Banded Rail

A secretive bird we have heard of but rarely seen. Today Blipmate and I went looking and actually found some banded rail in the tidal area at Marahau. There appeared to be several pair  scurrying around the edges of the outgoing tide. They are extremely  well camouflaged in the reeds and we have only seen them distantly before.


This shot shows the birds markings best but is is not as sharp as I would have liked. There are a couple of sharper ones in the extras
