If you can't beat them...

Galanthus nivalis Viridapice

Last year my Galanthophile brother spotted that we had some snowdrops at the LOdge which he didn't have in his collection.  So a swop was in order.  I think we came of best in the swop - we received 4 or five clumps of a number of varieties, he got two or 3 bulbs.

Being Saturday we had the usual job of preping the Lodge ready for the next guests.   Not knowing if I would get anything else of interest I took some shots of these.

Viridapice was discovered in a dutch farm garden in the 1920s.  The variety is characterised by the green on the petals.  It would appear that the variant may have occurred a number of times as the Viridapice on offer varies quite a lot in size and form suggesting they have come from different origins.
