Big Dance
After watching the Baildon Carnival parade, we gave the carnival itself a miss and headed into Bradford for the Big Dance. Something like this is an annual event, although this year it was branded as part of London 2012 celebrations, and seemed more oriented around participation than spectating.
The realm of dance was also pushed in a streetward direction, via parkour to extreme sports. A half-pipe was set up in front of the Town Hall, and Team Extreme gave a number of shows during the afternoon, and in between ran coaching workshops for aspiring skater boys and girls.
This shot is from one of their shows, and captures the team looking on as one of the highlight skateboarding tricks was completed.
Afterward, 7y0 deployed his gym club skills and started to evolve a unique pre-parkour style of his own, tumbling and flipping around City Park.
This is the first appearance of a skateboard in this journal since only my fourth blip: Half a Skateboard.
