Welcome and thanks

After an incredibly busy day in the west and then in the east ( Dunoon & Edinburgh) I was the guest speaker tonight at a dinner in the Parliament organised by the Open University to mark the first ever meeting of its ruling Council in Scotland.

It was an enjoyable and stimulating evening and it was good to welcome such a distinguished group of guests.

My father was one of the very early OU graduates ( in 1973) and I felt I owed it to him to say thank you to a very important and educationally inclusive organisation as well as challenge them to do even more.
