Family affair
Best day by far today. Someone crept into the house last night and swapped Audrey with a new baby I swear it.
For one thing she's no longer crying in pain. And for another, she slept for a 5 hour and a 4 hour stint last night furnishing my husband and I with 8 hours broken sleep!!! A record since she was born. We feel like brand new shiny happy parents. Thank you Infant Gaviscon if this is your work.
Today was my sister Jo's belated birthday family meal. We headed out en masse with pram and baby paraphernalia to our local Italian restaurant and set up camp. It was all very Sopranos as we spent the whole afternoon there eating, drinking and passing Audrey around her adoring public.
Audrey was angelic, no crying and mainly cuteness; even some gurgling. Everyone definitely thinks I'm mad now. But I swear this baby is an imposter. Never seen her in my life before, honest.
Today's blip picture is of my Mum with Audrey over her shoulder. Mum's had three girls and is what you might call a 'dab hand' with babies. She can always calm Audrey down by moving her into a million different positions, one after the other in quick succession until she finds the winner. It's a masterclass to watch.
Dad's mainly besotted with her. He just stares at her with these doe eyes and has little chats with her while she looks up at him adoringly. A Grandad's girl (and a Daddy's girl) for sure.
My sisters are both quite emotional about her. She's like the fourth sister already and its so lovely to see the way they look at her. They are both keen to get stuck in on the feeding and changing too. Good practice!
I drank quite a bit of wine (oops) and really relaxed today. Had such a lovely day with my beautiful family. Long may the good times roll....
