Undiscovered country

As I was leaving my drawing class this afternoon I saw a couple of birch trees with this interesting bark. It reminded me of old wood-cut map illustrations and I liked the different textures.

I have included one of my drawings in today's extras. We were given a still life to draw - I bet you can't guess what it is! We had to first draw with whatever hand we usually write with, then after 20 minutes draw the same thing with the other hand! So the extra is a photo of my 'interpretation' (ha!) of a cabbage inside a box.
