Santa Barbara mission

The Mission in Santa Barbara, the only one which was not secularised under Me Ivan rule and which has been continuously occupied by Franciscans since 1786.

We drove from LA to Lompoc today, via Ventura and the Channel Islands National Park, and Santa Barbara. I first visited the US back in 1995 for a conference at UC Santa Barbara, it is strange to come full circle after seventeen years.

Some great caches today, but the geocache story of the decade has to go to the one we didn't find, having met a MOUNTAIN LION coming towards the path!! We beat a hasty but calm retreat....
