Osprey
11.1C with some cloud but pleasingly brighter than forecast. A few spots of rain. Light WSW breeze.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went through to Arbroath before 9am and had a walk round the harbour. We walked round the inner harbour to the boatyard. The fishing boat Our Julia from Scarborough was still on the slipway. Just by the bottom of the slipway where the harbour is shallow Osprey was aground and two men were working on her hull. The sea level in the outer harbour was so low that most of the boats were aground. The tide was almost fully out but there was an hour or so left until low tide. The owner of the tiny boat Defiant was on board and making repairs to the area where the creels come on board.
No fishermen on the outer harbour wall today. The lock gate to the inner harbour was closed so we could walk round in a loop to get back to the car. No gloves needed today.
The fishing boats that were on the slipway until recently are still tied up in a corner of the inner harbour. Work is being done on Marigold. Lots of sheets of metal are lying beside her on the quayside. Her wheelhouse has been rebuilt. The inner harbour was still busy but there were more creel boats in the outer harbour.
Maeve and I went for a walk before lunch. Runrig on the Nano (The Story). Just a 2 mile loop down to the shore road and round the main road and back home.
The six nations rugby is back with us. I think there are too many weekends off in the tournament nowadays. First up today Ireland 58 Italy 15. Later England v Wales. Tomorrow Scotland v France.
