Scottish Crossbill

Lovely to see and hear these special birds in the woods this morning. The males are red and the females green. This is a young male or one that has finished breeding. They are some of our earliest breeders. The female is in the extras together with the Coltsfoot I found flowering on the riverbank, first I've found this year, another favourite, so a good day!
