Thrush's Song
The morning chorus wakes me,
till one voice carries on:
high up in the holly tops
a lone thrush sings his song,
a thrill of sound to stir the soul,
continuous and strong.
He trills a multitude of notes
arranged in many a way
yet never seems to pause for breath,
he has so much to say.
Is any call more beautiful
to welcome in the day?
Melodious, this soloist
gives gleeful, joyous cries.
From high up in the holly tops
his strains repeat and rise
with novel tuneful offerings
to spread across the skies.

(Took the photo on full zoom and through the window, so was quite pleased with a result that more than confirmed my guess that the songster was, indeed, a thrush!)
