Maisie makes a friend ..
I'm sure all the books would say that the first day with your new puppy should be just a quiet time with the two of you, in your new home.
Our day has been far from that! I slept in Maisie's room - and will for the next couple of nights. She was as quiet as a mouse for the entire night. The lesson I have learnt is to let the dog out for a wee before I have one myself in the morning - there have been many accidents around the house today - some more major than others. I hope we can sort this out soon!
The men came to screed the kitchen floor and the fence men came to sort out the dodgy gates .. In the afternoon I decided to head out to Sunk Island with my camera (and my dog!) As I was passing my friends' house I saw they were in and exercising their tiny cockapoo puppy, so Maisie and I dropped in. Maisie had a great time playing with little Alfie who jumped all over her and hung off her tail. They were lovely together.
Then we headed home where other friends were dropping in to meet Maisie - and the flooring men returned to lay the new vinyl flooring.
Maisie has such a lovely temperament - so friendly - and quite submissive. If you lean down to her she automatically drops to the floor and rolls over for a tummy rub - quite tricky when you're just trying to get a collar or harness on her!
I've booked in to see the dog trainer for a 'rescue dog' session! I need advice on training in general and toilet training in particular.
