playdates in the sun
It felt like spring today... We had a trip to the Botanical gardens to meet up with Michelle and her wee boy... The kids enjoyed charging up and down the grassy hill together, playing amongst the trees and darting around all the crocus flowers... Me and Michelle were able to catch up a bit whilst being on a relentless mission to get to the cafe for a cuppa, however getting a pair of excited and lively two year olds to go in a straight-line and a generally forward direction is about as easy as herding cats, we finally reached the cafe just before we all had to go home... But the kids had picnicked on route and it was lovely to see them playing together and enjoying the freedom and space...brandishing twigs and sticks, delving in mud and inspecting the hollows in trees for animals, Hippos, Gruffalos and other creatures .. it was a great place to take them as there's no traffic to worry about and the wide spaces mean that they can have their independence and can take off and run quite far whilst still being safely in view... They got on really well until inevitably they both got a bit tired...the enthusiastic and well intentioned hug at the end of the playdate resulted in them both plummeting to the ground, bumping heads and requiring general dusting off and consoling... But we can't wait to all meet up again :-)
