Sausage Fest in Budapest

Today we were off to see Budapest!

We joined the free walking tour of the city which was actually really good as it told us about the Hungarian history and culture whilst seeing the sights with some much loved comedy added in!

We then strolled through the streets and ended up in Budapest's food market. It was AMAZING. Downstairs was filled with numerous fruit & veg stalls, fishmongers, butchers, delicatessens and some stands just selling lots and lots of sausage... Melody was in heaven...upstairs was EVEN BETTER with different food stalls selling traditional Hungarian food - much more than just Goulash. We stuffed our faces with sausage wrapped in bacon and melted cheese, mince stuffed cabbage, and Langos (Hungary's version of cheesy garlic bread with sour cream!) MOUTHGASMS. Let's just say you couldn't be vegetarian or stay skinny in Hungary! (On a side note... Melody continuously made some 'hilarious' jokes about how we 'weren't hung(a)ry in Hungary anymore!' Idiot...)

After such a feast, a definite rest was needed for our food babies so chilled back at the hostel ready for a night on the town. Again, standard dolling up session and pre-drinks with our £1 bottle of wine (actually pretty good... Budapest is crazy cheap for alcohol!) we headed to the island in between the Buda and Pest sides of the city where there are numerous outdoor clubs...awesome!

A lot of dancing was had until Louise stopped dancing suddenly, squealed and jumped on two girls at the side of the dance floor...Melody was confused to say the least...it turned out they were the girls we shared a room with in Venice that we'd talked to for all of 5minutes when we were there; however, after a few drinks and happy dancing they could have been long lost best friends...the feeling was mutual and they continued to hug and jump up and down with us for a good 5minutes...girls eh?

Unfortunately, with these bars being outside the weather decided not to be on our side and the heavens opened so we decide to head back into town...or so we thought. We got completely lost and a lovely Hungarian local walked us across the city back to our hostel...what a legend! Trying to get your bearings and use a map after maybe a few too many glasses of wine is much more difficult than you would think!

Anyhow we did manage to FINALLY make it safely home ready for our day of R&R tomorrow!

Much love,
