Proud Mummy Penguin

How proud/protective does this penguin look, guarding her chicks?? We used our annual ticket to the zoo today since the weather promised a dry day (of course, that did not come true but only a couple of showers). The main penguin closure is closed (how apt!) and they have to make do with a very small area of rocks and muddy water. I have mixed feelings about the zoo as its a great way to get children interested in animals but fortunately they don't pick up on how stir crazy and obviously depressed some of the animals are.

A trip to the in-laws after the zoo for a slap-up BBQ. We last around 4 minutes outside before a heavy shower came along forcing us to retreat indoors. It was so lovely and relaxing not having to prepare Sunday dinner.
