EEEEK!
There are at least six little Downy Woodpeckers that visit our feeders regularly, so confrontations are not uncommon. However, this time of year, things are complicated by the fact that breeding season is nearly upon us. This male was reacting to a female (I'm guessing his mate) who landed a foot or so from where he was feeding. Both of them raised the little feathers on their heads and chattered at each other. Eventually, feathers were lowered and he continued to eat while she sat less than a foot away and waited. Anyway, I think it's a cute shot and worthy to be today's Blip.

Lots of puffy birds today as it is rather chilly. But the good news is that there is no longer snow in our forecast for tomorrow! Which means I don't have to try to cover everything in the garden. Very happy about that.
Hubs is down at the south NJ racetrack today with one of his racing team mates. They took one of the cars down for a track day to make sure it's ready for the season. And of course, it gave them both an opportunity to get out on the race course and drive really fast, which makes for happy race car drivers.
Thanks for all the love on my Tufted Titmouse yesterday. I'm glad I am not the only one who finds them utterly adorable. Like the woodpeckers, they are starting to exhibit some spring behavior, mostly in the form of chasing each other around the yard. Great fun to watch.
Cheers, and enjoy your weekend!
