Founders day
Today was a trip down memory lane for my husband. We went to 'Founders day' - a day to commemorate the founders of the school - celebrated with a day of athletics. As you'd expect from an all boys school the houses are pretty darn competitive as the heats progress and the finals take place. Apparently, and not that it would take a genius to work out, this evening is spent celebrating and there will be some pretty sore heads - and probably even better stories by tomorrow. Monday morning will probably be spent swapping stories of who did what...
The day was a little bit curtailed by the weather. It utterly bucketed it down making everyone run for cover. We ended up in one of the school houses, sheltering from the rain for about an hour. Obviously, the child was enchanted with the rain and spent most of that time making a beeline for the door and playing in the water coming off the roof. The friendly advice from others of 'just let him play in it' was great, before the logistics of no other clothes for him was factored in and the two hour car journey with a cold, wet baby didn't appeal.
The big news is that since getting back to the farm, it hasn't stopped raining and we're up to about 50mls so far today. Yet more amazing is that the power is still on, rain always means no power. Only in Zimbabwe.....
