A slice of Lesley's life

The Monet Shot*

It wasn't quite all about the monet, monet, monet* today but a decent chunk of the morning was with a fabulous trip to the Galerie L'Orangerie de Tuilieres.

Before that there had been the discovery of the splendidly appointed Rue Cler which provided us with all the provisions we needed to forage for breakfast as well as identifying a lunch location.

We were making splendid time and possible slightly prematurely over congratulating ourselves on our efficiency when we hit un petit snagette at the Eurostar terminal. Our tickets didn't work. Turned out they had been booked for tomorrow...oh la la, as some might say. I will hasten to add that it was not an error made by anyone in our party but it didn't really matter where the mistake had been made as the painful fact was that, due to the rugby, there was not a single seat to be had on any train leaving Paris today. Fortunately there were seats to be had on a plane from Charles de Gaulle and the age old throwing money at a problem turned up trumps again. And by some sheer good fortune we didn't fall foul of the French Air Traffic Controllers' strike which did sadly ground the French continent of our party making it oddly easier for those of us who live in another country to get home.

And home I am after a very splendid weekend and plans already afoot for the next one...

And I learned yet another word for scarf in French - etoles - taking my total to three - escarpe and foulard being the other two. Now I just need a lesson or atelier (another new word this weekend) in how to tie them with elan or insouciance.
