Great horned owl

The last thing I expected to see in Phoenix was a great horned owl. I had hoped for a burrowing owl ( but they weren't out of their nests in the park on Monday), but this guy was hanging out i a tree for a few hours at the Desert Botanical Gardens. And no, this was not an aviary , just a tree in the gardens. He was having an afternoon siesta in the 90 degree heat. Thank you Alejandro for spotting him! And as is typical I did not pick the most focused of the shots to post. This is not the one you're getting Alejandro!
