Dirk and I walked a 'new' route this morning, that he had run yesterday to recce, we're getting a nice batch of walks so that we don't need to always do the same few.  This one is particularly nice as there are some quite open areas to go through.  This chap was waiting for us across the path - he wasn't there yesterday when Dirk ran it, and in the mean time has made a huge web strung across two trees over 6ft apart.  The engineering is pretty impressive.  It was literally right in front of us, so I probably owe a thank you to my husband for spotting it before I walked straight into it. 

The boy has had a trying day, with more tears than perhaps he would like.... He fell over as he was lifted off the bed this morning, then managed to fall over backwards when sitting down in the kitchen and clunk his head, only to hit it again (when the tears had just stopped) on the dining room table about 20 minutes later.  Then a Dassie charged him whilst he was playing in the sand, to be brought back to his mother who put him on the floor of the kitchen and the maid walked into him - so he fell over again.  The poor, poor lad.  He seems to have survived the day and is still smiling.
