Day 17
Baveno (Italy) - Colmar (France)
264 miles
Sadly we are starting our journey home today after sending EJ on her way back to the airport last night....
Waved goodbye to the lake with a slightly heavy heart and headed North. We feel as though we have put the old van through enough mountain passes so once over the Italian border we opted for the Gotthard tunnel to take us through the Swiss Alps. It's a mind boggling ten miles long and is a feat of amazing engineering and immense concentration for drivers.
Big rain greeted us on the other side at Lake Lucerne unfortunately so we whizzed through Switzerland, not stopping until we reached Colmar in France, just South of Strasbourg.
More rain this evening, bit knackered after the drive.
Cribbage is now B-7, Me-0. I give up!
p.s. this is taken through the windscreen - not top quality.
