Inspiration
Another focus group today up in the north west and great stories from young people battling to overcome the odds. This is an area much scarred by Ireland's recent history and still scarred today by unemployment and deprivation. But the young people we met were full of expectation about their lives to come; hopeful, focused, determined not to get dragged down by division or by gangs or drugs or lack of opportunity. They were inspiring. The carved wooden sculpture on the wall of the community centre in Rossville Street depicts Saint Colmcille, born in Ireland in 521and known in Scotland as Saint Columba.
