Quelle horreur!
Arranging care for Dookie meant that news of the senseless, cruel attacks in Brussels only reached us late last night. Our hearts grieve for the victims and their families and we wonder yet again at the atrocities so often perpetrated, throughout the ages, on account of warped interpretations of religion – and the factors that lead young people to kill and to kill themselves in the process.
It was a very sad Dookie that greeted me at visiting time. He was lying down and it was painful to watch his labored breathing. He barely moved while I was there, just looked at me reproachfully – how could I leave him with strangers, in such a stressful environment? But he was on a drip and due to receive more medication and have another blood test, so I had little choice. If I knew there was no hope for him, I’d take him home and stay by him, but while there’s still a glimmer, he has to be where he’ll receive proper care.
