R.I.P. Dookie

I woke with a strong feeling of foreboding at around 3 a.m., sure all was not well with Dookie. I eventually slept again at around 6 a.m. and only woke to the sound of the phone at 8. I leapt up, convinced that it would be bad news, but it was our daughter calling for a chat. The bad news came later, when I was back at the phone shop, trying to sort out our plans. Sure enough, Dookie’s heart had stopped, not during the night, but when they had him on the table prior to some procedure. So my beautiful young dog, only around two years old, so loving and so full of energy, has died in the cold, tiled environment of the vet hospital.

We brought him up to the hills and buried him tonight, near Sir Ivor, another beautiful dog who died on the operating table, some three years ago. Rest in peace, my darlings.

This photo was obviously not taken today, only edited, but hopefully Blipfoto will pardon the cheat and accept it.
