Fitba Profanity: Brian Sweeney
Another early start in which I got loads done by 10am. I work really well in the morning. Then I headed off to Stirling and the office, got more jobs done and then had a swim! I'm starting to swim more regularly but shorter sessions. I did a 400m time trial after a long warm-up and whilst a mile off last year's season's best, I was happy because I got all the process bits right.
A few more hours work, and then it was up to Pathfoot for an arts lecture. Scottish photographer Brian Sweeney and football journalist Stuart Cosgrove on Sweeney's Stadiums of the North project. It was highly entertaining, with a bit of photography chat, some music chat, a bit football and quite a lot of profanity. Sweeney spent quite a lot of time in Glasgow's Sub Club listening to techno when I was doing the same at Pure in the Edinburgh.
I suggested in the questions at the end that Pure was a superior club, which both Cosgrove and Sweeney seemed to recognise, having frequented both places. It even transpired that we all had mutual acquaintances but that topic couldn't really be explored in a packed lecture theatre. Rather I pitched the question along socio-cultural lines, which the chaps discussed for 5 minutes and I got a 'good question' response too. Both guys that I would have a pint with.
Then it was back to the office for a Skype with Claire, with more potty mouth profanity interspersed by academic talk of collaboration on a research project! I cannae wait for us to have our first paper together.
