Healthy Food
Good Friday - no meat today but fish allowed. My daughter who is vegetarian was however very envious when I sent her the photo on the right with the plea for help on how best to use the bones of a lamb given to us by our butcher.
Kate would give anything to get her hands on the meat scraps and bones, seemingly her local butchers are currently not able to supply her with her needs. Perhaps too many other pet owners in the area have taken to the "Raw Meat Only" diet.
Kate has been following this diet for her pet dogs and cats since losing her young flat coated retriever, Poppy, to cancer in 2014. Stunned by the overnight loss, she did a lot of research and found out that a huge proportion of pets die from cancer and this eventually led her to the diet. So now no more tins or dried food, just raw meat and for the benefit of her animals she is quite prepared to wade through trays of butchers waste to get what they need.
On the left, Luna isn't sticking out her tongue at me for Bliping her but licking her lips during her spicy lunch. We don't yet use raw meat but use butchers scraps and cook them up. Pork makes up by far the biggest amount of meat in Germany but raw is not good for pets. For those with eagle eyes, you might spot the yellow beard Luna has. It's the turmeric paste added to her meals! Another tip from Kate.
I don't want to preach or sound like one of these fad types but from personal experience I can highly recommend everyone but particularly those suffering from skeletal related pain to do a bit of research on Turmeric. Applies even more so to dog and horse owners.Turmeric has changed Flash's life overnight. Just a few months ago he was about to resign on life with his arthritic pain. His start on turmeric got a bit mixed up with a life threatening bite attack in January which clouded the picture but now it is clear he can once again lead a much better life. The stuff won't cure his worn out bones and we know he is on borrowed time but one can see it so clearly in his face and his actions that he is a different being.
Where I get all my info is a Facebook group called Turmeric Users UK, full of really good quality info on their Files pages and overflowing with praise from the 35,000+ followers in the discussions. A really friendly helpful bunch of people. Worth taking a look and simply following what people are writing. I guarantee that 90% will soon be making their own "Golden Paste" within days. Medical companies will scorn on it as they can't make any money - the ingredients are all in your local Tesco "World Food" aisles - Big bag of organic turmeric, pot of organic coconut oil, some whole black pepper to freshly grind and a bit of water - heated up, popped in a jar in the fridge and/or freezer and start with an 1/8th of a teaspoon two or three times a day and gradually increase. Minimal cost and it seems dogs see results within days, humans in two or three weeks, many within hours. There is virtually no area it can't help from cancer to insomnia, psoriasis to heart problems, fibromyalgia to depression, it even makes an excellent toothpaste despite the dreadful stains it makes on kitchen worktops if you aren't careful!
Take the plunge and have a look - your body and/or pet will thank you.
By the way Luna gets it as a "maintenance dose" as it is reported to make life difficult for cancer cells to get a hold. I think you will find turmeric is the most medically researched herb/spice foodstuff there is.
