The Lady in the Van

We had a wonderful afternoon.  CCN and I collected our good friend Margaret and we all trotted off to the Mt Vic Flicks.  This is a fantastic old picture theatre in Mount Victoria.  We were keen to see Maggie Smith in "The Lady in the Van".  

Well I loved it.  Honestly, I can't wait to see any movie that stars Maggie Smith, Judy Dench or Helen Mirren, three amazing British actors.   It was such a poignant story but there were some very comical moments as well.  I have to admit the old tissue made an appearance towards the end of the movie.

There was a time when we all thought the historic Mt Vic Flicks would have to close, but luckily it has been purchased by a very enthusiastic young couple who have insured that we can still go the movies old fashioned style.  If you look carefully you will see a lady on the left of the image with a cup of coffee in a real china cup and the Snack Bar is on the right of the image.  This is where you buy the best "Choc Tops" on the planet and you can buy a packet of mixed lollies, maltesers or Scones Jam and Cream with your tea or coffee.  We would rather wait a couple of weeks for the new release movies to make it to the Mt Vic Flicks rather than have to go to one of these state of the art multi movie theatre monstrosities.  If you haven't seen the movie, I can highly recommend it and as it says at the start it's a "Mostly True Story"!!  If you have seen it please let me know what you thought of it.

PS - Almost forgot to mention, on the right of the image near the screen is an organ which gets a work out from time to time.  Ah, the good old days!
