A drake too many!

Looking at this photo, it seems nothing special.
However if you look at my extra shot you will see where this duck was standing, and part of the reason why, below!

As I drove round the pond today there was quite a commotion going on.
There were actually 5 drakes on the path, but they all flew off except this one.
The female was having none of it!! Don't blame her! The top of the hedge seemed the safest place.
Not sure why, but she seems to be the only female mallard on the pond.

Popped in to see Tom. 
He had some bad news I'm afraid.
Rats have eaten all his tomato plants, which were just about ready for planting out into the large greenhouse.
So he has had to buy more seed, and that means they will be a month behind. August he thinks.
He is hoping he has now got rid of the rats.
After all this, he seemed in very good spirits!

Just in the middle of making a Chicken Jambalaya for tonight's meal, and decide to open the bottle of wine we won.
It is delicious! ( the wine!)

Pouring down at the moment.
Not decided if we are going walking tomorrow. Don't want to get caught in a down pour!
