Chateau de Versailles. What a kerfuffle.
This was one of the elements of the trip I as most looking forward to as I had never been before and I had learnt a LOT about the Palais et Jardins in my History of Architecture lecture series. The Palace was packed. I was squeezed and directed like a sheep through the procession of rooms and was glad to get into the gardens to enjoy the relative peace and serenity.
We got away from the crowds and walked to the Domaine de Marie-Antoinette. This was the true highlight of the day. The Petit Trianon and it's gardens were magnificent and I took this photograph just as we dodged a Parisian 'April' shower.
