Sleeplessness can be Productive

Well, I could not go back to bed with this glow happening behind the Petit Muveran. I found the tripod (which seems to be missing a foot) long lens clicked onto the camera, warm dressing gown on me, no time for socks, and out on the balcony. Then I could not remember the settings of how to take a picture of the moon. She does move quickly, doesn't she? So all I got was this rather lovely glow before the moon disappeared into the ceiling of clouds. Can someone tell me what the red spot is above the peak (you can see it in the extra)? After all that excitement and with very cold feet, I still couldn't sleep!
