Storm brewing over Dunstanburgh
Lu suggested today's walk, from Low Newton to Dunstanburgh and back - and a very good suggestion it was too!
First MrM drove us to Beadnell where we walked on the beach with Louie, and watched the kite surfers (see extra) and wind surfers. The wind was keen, and it looked exhilarating!
Then on to Low Newton for our main walk. The weather looked threatening at times but it stayed dry and, for the most part, sunny, though it was cold enough in the wind that we were glad of winter jackets and hats. Walking on sand seemed quite hard-going after a while, and necessitated a sit-down on the beach for coffee (extra) and, when we reached the castle, a chocolate snack! It was much easier going back to Low Newton with the wind behind us, and before walking to the car park we enjoyed a quick half at the Ship Inn.
Too late to cook the intended meal by the time we arrived home, so we had no choice but to make our way to a nearby hostelry for a roast dinner and a couple of glasses of red!
