Relay Day
The last day of the Easter orienteering event is Relay Day. Clubs put forward teams of 3 to try and out do other clubs in various classes. My team was in the M/W210+ class .Although our ages combined made 190, 2 of us were female who get an extra 10 years handicap. We knew our team was not going to win, me of sore knees took over from Mike age 70 our first leg runner who hobbled in with a stick. We were a long way down the pack but not last and it's is the taking part that counts. The photo shows the first leg runners in the most prestigious class; the JK trophy in the area near the trees waiting to start and that's No1 son at the back in navy/green/white running for an Edinburgh Uni team. Yes you would be right in thinking he left University last year- but he made some really good friends and they wanted to run together.
