Waste management!!

A U3A visit to the local waste management centre in Lincoln this morning. It housed in an enormous clean building which was opened about 18 months ago.

Who would think that rubbish could be boring, well think again!! It was fascinating!! The centre disposes of the non recyclable waste by incinerating it, which then provides electricity, a gravel like waste which is used for road building and a small amount of metal for recycling.

We saw the whole process which, apart from the rubbish coming in, was very clean and efficient.

I now have a better idea of the refuse collection system used locally, very different from our old home in Essex.

Well that was this mornings activities!! This afternoon we have had someone out to try to sort out R’s car, a roof problem!! It has now been towed away to the garage and a replacement should be on its way from Grimsby.

She is on a course today, so B collected her from home this morning and delivered  her to the venue. I will collect her this evening and possibly take her home or not, depending on the arrival of the replacement car!!!
