Larnaca Old Town #2

It has been quite a day and if there is a lot of detail here, it is mainly to record it...

Started by heading to Larnaca to buy two lots of white goods; all after careful planning! Two very different sets of requirements - including colours!! (silver and white). G had to race off to allow delivery men access to one of the apartments, and also to let in a lady who was going to clean the flat we are staying in - two different locations. Reckoned with the very limited spare time we have, spending it cleaning is not a great idea.

Got picked up by G and came home to pay the cleaner and have lunch. We also had to handover the key to the second flat to the lady who was cleaning at the complex. Got there to find due to time constraints, she couldn't do that one till Sunday, so to be more efficient, we needed to cut some keys! Raced off to do just that at a petrol station (yes!) nearby, then back again to hand keys back (are you with me still), then went on the hunt for a laundry who would wash (and iron) sheets and give them all back to us asap (like tomorrow). The local launderette who was recommended by the lady who cleaned our flat couldn't deliver until Monday afternoon, but was extremely helpful to put us in touch with someone who may be able to...

So we set off to find him... which is where this blip is from. Larnaca Old Town is full of surprises and character. The directions given were spot on and we found the laundry. Huge relief as it was half the price (!!!) and we can collect on Saturday afternoon! Woo hoo!

We then wended our way back to the appliance store - spotting this very unique Discount Store on the way. We were going to be taken to a large furniture warehouse to see if there was anything there that could work for us. Sadly there wasn't, and we lost precious time. Oh well... You've got to try.

Back to Larnaca again, then back to one of the apartments to check on curtains left there by the owner - to see if they can be used. They are too long! By this time (7:30pm) we'd had enough of the day, and just wanted to sit down and work out how we are going to make up for all the time we have lost. Drove through the village we're staying at just to see what's new and found a charity shop open at 8pm! Needless to say, it had to be investigated.

Tomorrow is a public holiday on which EVERYTHING is closed - including IKEA - so we are forced to have a day off! Think we'll go to Platres and just enjoy it, crowded as it will be...
