Macro.

If I have got it right for a photograph to be macro the object being photographed must be either the same size or more usually smaller than the resulting image. In a close up, on the other hand, the image is still smaller than the target.

I am sure there are very knowledgeable and experienced photographers out there and I would be delighted to be corrected if I have misunderstood.

This picture of a Primula is by this definition a macro shot. But I do not have a macro lens. In fact I use a Bridge camera with a 24x zoom. It is quite versatile and does closeups but it is not very good at macro.

This little plant was brought in from the greenhouse and placed on the lounge floor. My cheap tripod was then extended to its full height. The camera was set on aperture priority which blurs the background. Then I zoomed in to the flowers and used the 10 second delay timer.

I leave you experts to judge the results but would be delighted to have any constructive criticism.
