Bronze Ground Beetle
I led a walk today at Dancersend Nature Reserve - a beautiful sunny afternoon and 31 people very keen to see spring flowers. I managed to show a few flowers and help with identifying leaves of flowers-to-come, but everything is still held back by the cold conditions as the site is at the highest point in Bucks (and all the neighbouring counties). There were a few butterflies (Brimstone and Comma) and some fungi to make up for the lack of flowers. It was a shame that I found this lovely ground beetle, Carabus nemoralis, at the end of the walk when I was clearing up and few participants got to see it. Another view in extras.
