Grasses.
Along this ancient 'Rite of Way' leading up to the Pentland hills the verges are not cut by the council or the farmer. Wonderful plants and grasses grow high and are home to little animals and birds. Some of this land has never been cultivated and we all use it every day.
However this is now under threat of new housing - already through the planning stages and two and a half thousand homes are to be built either side of this pathway in the near future. This village will be swamped and the local services will suffer. Local people did not want as much land to be used as we love our fields and open ground where dogs and horses are exercised on the smallholdings. Even after consultation the building will be going ahead as planned.
