Blip -------- almost done

I had no idea what to blip so I scratched around in one of the spare bedrooms.  All my spare bedrooms are full of junk.  I found this cardboard poster in a box.  My late husband was a great collector of all sorts of stuff.  Mostly cigarette cards but also stamps, football - and other sports - programmes, theatre programmes, dinky cars, books - and anything else he found interesting or quirky.  Think this poster fits the last category.

" Blighty " - A British magazine for men which originated in 1916. It was intended as a humorous magazine for servicemen competing against magazines such as Titbits and Reveille. It ceased production in 1920 but was relaunched in 1939 at the outbreak of the 2nd World War and continued until 1958. It was then renamed Blighty Parade.  It continued with various name changes and ended up in the 1960's being called Parade. By the 1970s content had progressed to topless and nude photos of models, and at the end of the 1990s it went hardcore.

This poster advertises the issue from March 16th 1957 and featured June McCall as the " Cover Girl".  According to her biography June was a strikingly gorgeous 50s pin-up model with a comely face and bright red hair.  A very sweet and moral woman who was sadly taken advantage of by numerous sleazy folks in show business, She died suddenly at the tragically young age of 55 from a freak kitchen accident in her Los Angeles home on April 14, 1990.
