Ludlow Love

Three years in Shropshire and I feel like the only things I've heard about Ludlow are mediocre reviews of the Food Centre. However, with a day off and the promise of sunshine, we headed off, sock-less and fancy-free to explore.

Ludlow is beautiful. Winding streets and alleys which catch you by surprise with Shropshire Hills at their ends. Higgledy piggledy houses of all shapes and sizes and colours and names. A stunning church steeped in history. A river crashing down over a dramatic weir. Delightful delicatessens aplenty.

(OK, I realise that I could just as easily have been describing Shrewsbury there, but I assure you, Ludlow is quite unique).

We dined looking out over the river and I treated myself to a pint of Ludlow Gold.

A lovely little town which will definitely be revisited.

And the Food Centre is mediocre.
