Boscastle Harbour

The tide was out on this windy but dry day when we visited Boscastle. This historic 19th century harbour was the only possible site for a harbour within 40 miles on this part of the coastline. It was a busy place at that time with goods from places such as Bristol being transported from here by sea and large ships carrying timber from Canada arriving here. Given its size it is hard to imagine these activities. Today it is more known for the flash flood in 2004 when water rapidly surged down the river valley taking many vehicles with it.

We then visited Tintagel where we viewed the remains of the Castle and visited the Medieval Postoffice that was once a Longhouse, see extra.
