Ripeness is all ...

Saw Shakespeare's King Lear last night at the Royal Exchange Theatre theatre in Manchester, with Don Warrington (he of Rising Damp memories) in the role of the eponymous Monarch. Lovely theatre [in the round], great play and great production, and good [and unusual] to see two thirds of the cast were non-white. Last production I saw here was back in the 1980s when I saw John Gay's Beggar's Opera (1728), with Benjamin Britten's 1948 adaptation of old English folk and dance tunes.
