Town and Gown

This was our view from our guestroom in St John's College in Cambridge. I went to school in Cambridge and felt antagonistic to the whole university thing. It was strange to sleep in one of the colleges and feel the ambition and privilege pulsing out of the very walls. But also very beautiful.

There was a flagon of sherry and port in the room for our enjoyment but by the time we had finished at the wedding it was the last ting either of us needed.

This chap was on the wall of the room. A painting from the 17th century of Sir Robert Heath, a Kentish man.
