Dungeness

The weather window appeared so it was off at 6.00am.
We saw the lock gates open, cast off and motored round to the lock and it had closed by the time we arrived - should have called them on the vhf.
Never mind, out of harbour by 0645 and into the morning sun.
Fresh F4 breeze but almost right astern so we gave up on the main and sailed by jib alone supplemented from time to time with the engine.
Almost decided to stop at Dover as the sea-state and wind had got up by then and it was decidedly lumpy.
Pressed on to Ramsgate instead arriving at 1600 which was a good run - 55 miles in 9 hours.
Fish and chips tonight and pray for more windows.
