Enfield

Great Britain supplied arms to both sides of the American Civil War.  Here is an 1853 Enfield rifle used during the battle of Vicksburg.  I got to hold the rifle, but only for a second or two, and it weighed a ton!  In the foreground, is a very deep hole resulting from the cannon bombardment.  Over 20,000 soldiers died from this battle over a period of 37 days.
