Sometimes It's Your Day

Saturday, day of rest, no Joshua (Brecon playing rugby), no Samantha (sleeping am - working pm), no Clare (sleeping after a night shift).

A small lie in followed by a 'small plate' cooked breakfast and then the Saturday Telegraph in peace & quiet accompanied by a cafetiere of Spanish strong coffee.

A text message from Carolyn inviting us out for drinks this evening to celebrate Ben's birthday arrived but I deferred any decision until Mrs S awoke.

As I read through the sports section of the Telegraph I realised that it was Grand National day, normally each one of the four of us would select our choice, nothing scientific but based purely on horse name and/or the jockey's shirt colour/pattern. As the only one up using that criteria I selected all five and placed our bet.

Imagine my surprise when we got fist, second and fifth finishing the day some £60 better off.

The evening drinks fitted in either side of collecting Joshua from Bodmin however Mrs S managed the whole evening!
