B.A.C.K. to Basics

Red Sox @ Sea Dogs

An incredible day spent at Hadlock Field. The Norridgewock Red Sox were the featured "Baseball Buddies" for today's game. In such, they were allowed to take the field with the players for the National Anthem.

While waiting to take the field, the boys lined up on the warning track and were excited to see the players practicing, stretching, and warming up. On their way to the dug-out, they would all stop and fist-bump, high five or mingle with our boys. Hunter was given a practice ball by one of the players, and I'm not sure who was more excited - Hunter or Doug.

When they took the field, it was a moment of pride for both my son and for myself as a Mom. To see your son in the middle of the ball-field with players who play on a AA team for the Red Sox, and may very well one day be Red Sox players, is an exciting moment.

The Anthem ended and the boys ran from the field, excited to share their stories with the others. Some were given high-fives, some shook hands, some exchanged names and their playing positions.

Within a couple of innings, the boys all gathered again and tested their arm at the speed pitch. Each pitched 3 balls into the target, Colby's fastest pitch reached 44 mph.

Parents, players, siblings, family and friends all occupied a block of general admission seats. All together, we probably totaled 40 people. It was a great way to end a perfect season!
