Camouflage

Black and white face, striped like twigs against a light sky,
Yellow chest, the size and shape of fresh spring leaves,
Blue-grey tail, the tones of branches in sun and shade,
Back, green as moss - its plumage deceives the eye:
It's hard to spot the great-tit digging insects from trees, up high.

(I was pleased to grab a photo of this bird not on the nuts-feeder for a change - especially as there'd been two male blackcaps a few seconds earlier that I couldn't get in focus before they flew, darn it! They were nibbling at berries on the fatsia.)
