Heads

Mike had business calls to make in the morning so once he had finished we caught a taxi to The Botanic Gardens. Luckily the rain had stopped , still overcast but glad it was dry.
We bought a take away tea from the 'tardis' outside the entrance. £1 so good value as we've noticed that the cost of a cuppa seems to have risen a lot lately.
All the daffodils were out and beds of tulips and spring flowers were blooming in the well kept flower beds. Very colourful.
I liked the greenhouse, full of plants from across the world with large mirrors above reflecting the leaves. Interesting sculptures old and new throughout. It was lovely to a see a granddad and his grandson walking round with the little boy fascinated by what he saw. I heard a little girl skipping along next to her Mum say that it was a' fantastic day to be in the park'. It was dark and damp but it did nt seem to bother her.
A lady was feeding the grey squirrels and pigeons that seemed to come from everywhere. They were very tame and one squirrel tapped Mike on the foot hoping for something to eat.
A refreshing tea in the tearoom and then we walked along by the River Kelvin, I saw grey wagtails and mallards, and then on to Kelvingrove Museum and art gallery. Our legs were aching by now so we had a quick look round. We saw the new rainforest object cinema, which uses film and sound to bring the rainforest to life. It was busy with lots of children completing worksheets, all seemed be enjoying it.
We saw the Spitfire flying above the stuffed animals. Salvador Dali painting 'Christ of Saint John of the Cross' http://www.dalipaintings.net/christ-of-saint-john-of-the-cross.jsp and the floating heads with all different expressions, an instillation by Sophie Cave. 50 heads in white which are lit so that their expressions are accentuated.
Back to the hotel where we had a relaxing few hours over lunch and then a walk down to Central station and the return trip home.
